The Jefferson Elementary Library program works to instill a love of reading, inspire life-long learning and create independent and ethical users of media and information. Students access the library to check out books for pleasure and learning as they need. K-5 classes come to the library to participate in Digital Citizenship where they learn to be safe, ethical, and positive users of technology and digital media on the web and their everyday lives. Teachers collaborate with the Library Media Specialist quarterly to plan and create lessons to integrate classroom content with library, media, and technology skills. The library is a welcoming space where all students can escape the stress of a demanding day by opening up a book to take them to a whole other world or learn something new that has peaked their interest.
